Virtual Friends (reflections by Oriza Martins)
Virtual Friends
When this fascinating global network arouse – the internet – endless possibilities of interaction between people all over the world were developed, multiplying friendships, love, knowledge…Â and much more…
In life, any object can be improperly used: the same knife that cuts your bread can be used to hurt someone…Â the same lips that are used to kiss and caress, can be vehicles of infamy and calumnies…Â The proper use depends on the user and his intentions.
For the men of good will, the internet has many positive meanings: an inexhaustible and ever-increasing source of knowledge, wisdom and refection as well as a real possibility of avoid the spectrum of loneliness – for the shy people, the elderly, or any one of us…
And for the romantics… wow!…
For the assumed romantics, it became a magical corner, where friendships and loves interact positively as well as proliferate; where messages, poems, meditations and reflections, shared constantly, bring encouragement to suffering souls, are balms of tenderness and enchantment that make daily life happier and hours of uncertainty, more bearable…Â and for the non-romantic, also a chance of getting involved and discover the magical allure of this coexistence.
It has become conventional calling the Internet universe as “virtual spaceâ€
Might these people be online friends?
No…
They are real. They are real friends.
They are real in the constant presence in our lives, teaching us lessons, helping us become better human beings.
They are real because they encourage us in our ongoing process of moral improvement by spreading words in messages that lead us to precious moments of reflection.
They are real because they experience, along with us, real moments of joy.
They are real because they help us understand that the true happiness is the good feelings: the love for others, solidarity, peaceful coexistence, and is achieved – as says a meditation – by peace on earth to the men of good will.
So is the internet for men of good will…
And there will always be the hope that it may also have a positive meaning for others, because after all, the Creator’s desire is that peace and love not only come for men of good will, but for everyone, especially for those who has not found the good will yet!
